The excitement is building! I am filled with joy as we prepare for the upcoming 2024 North Carolina City & County Communicators Conference (NC3C). This particular conference holds special significance for me, as it will be my second time attending. And I must say, the memories from my first NC3C in Wilmington last year are still fresh in my mind.
Round One: NC3C 2023, Wilmington, NC
Remember that jam-packed conference schedule filled with insightful sessions and thought-provoking discussions? It was a goldmine of information, and I left feeling energized and brimming with new ideas. One of the highlights for me was presenting alongside the Town of Chapel Hill. We delved into the exciting world of establishing a plain language center of excellence, a project aimed at making government communication clear and accessible to everyone. We also introduced Writer, a cutting-edge generative AI tool that helps maintain a consistent voice across all communications.

But beyond the presentations and workshops, what truly made NC3C special were the connections I made. It was fantastic meeting fellow sponsors at Granicus, CITIBOT, and Public Input. These tools and systems have revolutionized the way we produce engaging content for our target audiences. The chance to share experiences and successful strategies with other city communicators was incredibly beneficial. Being a part of a community and collaborating towards shared goals was highly motivating.
The outpouring of support from everyone at the conference was incredible. It’s truly a testament to the collaborative spirit within the field of municipal communications. I left feeling not just informed, but also empowered and motivated to take on new communication challenges.

So, here I am, eagerly anticipating round two! I can’t wait to see what the 2024 NC3C has in store. Who knows, maybe I’ll even run into some familiar faces – or make some exciting new connections. One thing’s for sure, I’m ready to dive in, learn, share, and be a part of this amazing community once again.
